Something A Bit DIfferent

As some of you may know, the official Forgotten Bookmarks scanner is dying.

I can't really post anything new until I get myself a replacement, so let's have a giveaway instead.

Instead of the usual classic titles, I decided to offer up three choices:

10 Romance paperbacks:

10 SciFi/Fantasy paperbacks:

10 Mystery/Thriller paperbacks:

I'll be picking a different winner for each of the three lots, so if you're interested, let me know which collection of books you'd like in the comments. I'll announce a winner on Tuesday, Jan. 25th at 12:00 PM EST. (tomorrow)

Good luck -

  5. Hahahaha - I will throw my name in for the Romance books. I have never read a romance novel in my life after years of hearing my Mom quip, "Those are trashy books for small minded people" - haha. But, why not give them a chance, eh? Haha.

  6. I don't want to be entered, because I have several of them, but I wanted to say that there are some VERY good novels in that sf batch.

  9. I don't *need* more books, but I like the look of the sci-fi collection. I haven't met a UKL book I didn't enjoy.

Re scanner-dying, would you like a gently used USB2 flatbed? When my husband and I combined households a few years ago, we retired one of our scanners since we had the same make/model. I'll have to look around to find the power cord but it's light enough that shipping shouldn't be too bad. It's a Microtek ScanMaker 5900, nothing special but it handles smaller transparent media and it's in good working order.

  22. sci-fi/fantasy would be lovely! Also, are you looking to fund your new scanner through the site? I'd happily chip in a few bucks to keep the bookmarks coming.

  23. Very generous of you Andrew, but I have a lead on a proper book scanner that the local university doesn't need anymore.

The books pictures should be even better than they are now.

  24. I'd love to win the sci-fi books. There's a few in there that I've been meaning to read and the others look interesting, too.

  25. SciFi/Fantasy, please!

(our old scanner is still going strong, but the computer it has been attached to is dying. We need to figure out if the old drivers will work on a computer with a newer OS...)

  26. Tricia, the scanner dying may be a blessing in disguise; it won't work with my regular computer running Vista, so I use a little Dell netbook to scan and save the .tifs on a network drive. A new scanner should make life a bit easier.
