  1. LOVE it! "Hi Hon" might be "Hiltons" ?

  2. Hmmm, you may be right, Heidi.

"Hi hon" didn't make much sense.

  3. It might be, Alan, but there was a NY Dress Institute on Broadway that was formed in the 1940s to strengthen the garment industry.

  4. I did a search for Eagle Marone Phtography and came up with this link to a pdf...
    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/issue_pdf/toc_pdf/107/2785.pdf

mid page - (Cover photo by Eagle-Marone Studios.)

The magazine is from Friday, May 14, 1948. Too bad they didn't include the cover.

  5. Moon, I did the same search and found the cover (it's rather boring)

Will post when I get into work.

  6. It almost looks like the "st" of "inst" might be "st" for street; the "s" is written differently there than in the word "dress" (or "press"). I say that knowing it doesn't make sense unless the other words are all abbreviations, too. And that makes no sense, either (at least to me!).

  7. Oops, forgot to say: I thought "Hilton" too.
