Glimpses

Today's post isn't a bookmark, but a lovely surprise nonetheless. Here's the book:

"Glimpses of the Animate World" by James Johonnot, published by Appleton, 1888.

A nice antiquarian science reference, but the former owner left us a bit more:





From what I can tell, the illustrations seems to be done in pencil and touched up with watercolor. I especially like the flowering raspberry.
