Morning Has Broken

Two drawings, the first pen drawing is signed and dated, and looks to be original. There are pen imprints that push through to the back and it smells... well, inky. The second color drawing looks like different quality paper and I don't see and imprints on the other side. May be a copy.

Both found in "Cat Stevens: Teaser and the Firecat - Piano/Vocal/Guitar" published by Walter Kane / Triangle Music, 1971.

  1. I'm wondering if the sketch artist did other work? I can't make out the name, but it was done in 1968. It would be fun to google search the name just to see! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I was so curious that I had to google it! I found out that these drawings were included inside The Rascals Freedom Suite album and they were drawn by members of the band. The black ink drawing is by Eddie Brigati, the red and blue drawing is by Gene Cornish, and there was a third El Greco's Christ drawing by Dino Danelli.
I found the information on this forum: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-young-rascals-rascals-album-by-album-thread.239207/page-6. (Scroll down or search for #143 where the discussion about the drawings starts. In thread #146 and #147, they posted jpg's of the drawings.)

  3. Sheryl, thanks for the great info.

Now I really wonder - Eddie Brigati was born in Garfield NJ - where my dad's family grew up. These might have come from one of his collections of years gone by.
