Titus

Note. It looks like it was written by the author of yesterday's note:

Titus

I didn't suppose you ever used of these things.

You need an ??? Your ??? ribs are all broken. Amen.

Found in "Europe, Through a Woman's Eye" by Mrs. Lucy Yeend Culler. Published by the Lutheran Publication Society, 1883.

You need an auto? Hm...

Congratulations on 600 posts!

Of course--"You need an auto. Your ponies ribs are broken."

Looks to be the same author as the previous note, "Amen". As Ellen wrote, auto is a possiblity. Then could the second word be "ponies"?

Could be ponies. At first I thought it was something a little more... anatomical.

LOL. I thought the same thing, Michael...

How abstruse. I agree with auto and ponies. But what in the world . . . maybe all these notes by the same person fit together somehow?

Maybe it's Armen or Arnen and it's somebody's name...

Before I saw all these comments I had figured out that it was auto and ponies also and that the two notes are indeed written by the same person and it isn't "amen" but the author's last name. His forst name appears to be Arthur. So the last name might be Arnen or Armen. It appears Titus should have known better than to ride one of those "old trots" because he broke the poor beasts ribs in doing so. He needs a car! Poor pony!

I read is as "You need an Aristo. Your pen's ribs are broken." Or maybe it's "nibs" instead of "ribs"? Can offer no proof that "Aristo" is a brand name of a fountain pen, though.

So this might mean anything from a poor pony's ribs are broken to a guy needs a new fountain pen! Ha! Guess we really don't know much do we?

I did a little google search. There is indeed a company that makes "aristo" technical and mechanical pens and pencils, fountian pens and drafting supplies. Me and my broken down little pony feel properly chagrined, LOL. Although for a person who uses quality writing implements, Arthur certainly has lousy penmanship. :-)
