Holiday Gifts

Good morning - someone emailed and asked me about this, so I thought I would ask everyone:

If there's something you've seen on the site, bookmark or book, that you think might make a good gift for someone, comment here and let me know. I will do my best to set something up this week so you would be able to get it in time.

Not for myself, but if you've the mind, drop by Lew Jaffe's corner of the blogosphere: http://bookplatejunkie.blogspot.com/

I'm sure he'd think it mighty generous of you if you had a bookplate floating free...

For me the best gift would be an early edition Velveteen Rabbit. But I don't recall seeing one. Great idea though, great way to increase sales and help out shoppers.

Shutterbug - The oldest edition we have is a 1985, and it's pretty rare to sniff the first edition (1922 I think). I believe they go for $10,000 or more.

Mr. C - The only loose plates I have around are newer 'ex-lib' stickers. Very boring. There are lots of great ones in books, but they are hard to remove.

Shutterbug, The Velveteen Rabbit is my FAVORITE story of all time. That and Alice in Wonderland. I'm big on Fairytales. So next would be "The Princess and The Pea". I'm still not home Mike, but if you have any of those three, I would be forever in your debt!

And first editions would be nice, but they don't have to be! Not at all!

Thanks again Mike x0xx Amy

Shutterbug: how early is an early edition of The Velveteen Rabbit, 1920's? I just found a 1984 Knopf edition whimsically illustrated by Allen Atkinson as a discard for 50 cents at the library. On the front cover, the rabbit's head is oddly semi-transparent with the rainbow on the toybox behind him leaking through.

If you must have the first, here's the only copy I could find:

A bargain at $16,500.

Needless to say, that isn't my copy. :D

Do you have any older Fairytale Books? I would love to have one or two for me and no, they don't have to be firsts. I'm still not home, but you can email me if you'd like at my regular email address IAmHiMaintenance(at)aol(dot)com

I really liked the Pass It On poem you posted about a couple weeks ago.

Ok, one for the Pass it One poem - anyone else interested in that one?
