When I was in high school-ish, an ancient cousin took me and the family out to lunch. On the way home we stopped at the drug store to get her a new hairnet. She slept in them to keep her hair-do nice.

Later in college, at my first job in the cafeteria I had to wear a hairnet to keep my hair off the dirty trays I cleaned. They cost me 25¢ and I got them from manager. They were not made from real hair, thank goodness!

That is a weird place to find a hairnet.

I'm reminded of what Wanda Sykes said last night on the Daily Show--apropos of the person who sold "Elvis" hair on eBay for 18 thousand dollars: "Somewhere out there is a man with cold balls and a new truck."

How did a hairnet get in mechanics book. Kind of like the circular saw in a book about understanding women. Creepy.

I don't pretend to understand the whys. I just handle 80 year old hair in the hope it makes someone chuckle.

:D

That's just creepy. I have a bag that contains a lock of my hair from when I was 9 that my mom kept for me. Equally as creepy, but now I know my 'natural' hair colour!

Yikes!

I wonder if these came in different colors? The package doesn't seem to indicate it - or maybe the woman's picture shows what color the net is? Although if you were mainly using it at night (like Emily's ancient cousin), maybe you didn't care what color it was...
